Potatoes are my absolute favourite food and I'd happily nominate any kind as my last meal, but if I had to choose, I would vote for the roast pot.

Loved every bit of it. Your articles are always so interesting and full of trivia. Loved it, except that I don't consider Kolkata Biryani a real biryani 😂

Thanks for reading! Why not? Maybe you haven't had good Kolkata Biryani. I love all kinds of Biryani, my favourite being Donne Biryani from Karnataka

Potato might fit logically in the Biryani but my heart disagrees 😂

Portuguese transformed India’s and in particular Bengal’s cuisine like no other. The sweet meats/confectionery Indus is also because of the Portuguese. But potato remains their most significant contribution.

I do love a good spud. My favourite would probably be a roast potato. Absolutely delicious - Crispy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside. 😋

Woah, this was a cool read. And are you saying chilis and very hot spicy food wasn't a thing in India until they got introduced??

I am actually requestioning the question now. Because in northeast India, the indigenous Naga ghost chilis have been there since ages. So i guess a certain kind of chilli were introduced by the Portuguese. I need to check this! Thanks for asking
